For in-person attendees at the 2021 Men's Conference, the following protocols will be in place to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We ask that everyone respectfully abide by these protocols. These protocols are subject to change based on the status of COVID. Final protocols will be communicated to in-person registered participants prior to the event and at the conference.
COVID Protocols at the 2021 Men's Conference
The sanitation procedures already in place at Xavier High School will be followed to maintain a clean environment. Hand sanitizer will be available, but participants could also bring their own.
In accordance with the City of Cedar Rapids mask mandate, masks will be required to be worn while inside, except when eating (see below). Speakers will remove their masks while presenting, but will maintain social distancing from any attendees while presenting.
Chairs for seating will be spread out to maintain social distancing in the gym (for main sessions and the Mass), breakout session rooms, and the cafeteria (for lunch).
Food service will be individually-wrapped items (including individually-wrapped breakfast pastries and fruit, boxed lunches, and bottled beverages). Coffee will be provided in the morning and will be served to participants, rather than being self-serve. Seating will be spread out in the cafeteria, which will have a limited capacity. There will be overflow seating in other areas of the school (if needed), and participants will be welcome to eat outside (weather-permitting). Masks may be removed while eating.
During breaks, to avoid congestion in hallways, at vendor tables, and in restrooms, participants will be asked to take turns and avoid crowding areas.
During Mass with the Archbishop, congregational singing will be kept to a minimum, masks should be worn, social distancing should be maintained, and communion should be received in the hand (not on the tongue).
Participants are asked to please stay home (and participate virtually) if they are sick, have recently been sick, or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. In these circumstances, a refund of the difference in cost between an in-person ticket and a virtual ticket, or a full refund (if cancellation is necessary), will be given upon request.
